Professor Jian Li

Prof Jian Li is an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow in Drug Delivery, Disposition and Dynamics at Monash University with an internationally recognized track record in the pharmacology of polymyxins and the development of new lipopeptide antibiotics against Gram-negative ‘superbugs’. He has received numerous awards, including Australian Leadership Award (2013), Australian NHMRC’s Ten of the Best Research Projects (2015), and an ISI Highly Cited Researcher in Pharmacology & Toxicology (2015). Professor Li chaired the 2nd International Conference on Polymyxins (USA, 2015) and was the deputy chair of the 1st International Conference on Polymyxins (Italy, 2013). Professor Li has received >$33.7M funding from the US National Institutes of Health, Australian government and other funding agencies. Notably, he currently leads 4 large NIH R01 grants (US$18.4 M) on polymyxin pharmacology and drug discovery. His two R01 awarded in 2012 and 2014 were highlighted by the US President Barack Obama as one of the 6 examples of U.S. - Australia innovation and science cooperation.
